Chaos Faction is a free online fighting game developed by Armor Games that is very reminiscent of Super Smash Bros. Like its Nintendo counterpart, the game takes place on platforms within different settings and the players must battle to somehow push their opponents off of these platforms, and to their sudden death.

During the battle, random items and weapons are dropped from the sky that the player can utilize to their advantage, whether it be a first-aid kit to heal their character’s damage, or a machine gun to blast their opponents to smithereens. The game-play is very simple, utilizing the keyboard. Basically, left arrow makes your character go left while the right arrow makes him go right. Up arrow controls jumping and pressing the down arrow shields you. Aside from that, all you need to know is that Z and X are your attack keys, and you’re ready to begin.
Within the Chaos Faction, there are three modes of game-play : Campaign, Survival and Death Match. Campaign mode is essentially story-mode, where the player moves through the levels in a sequence, unlocking new weapons, characters and even more levels. The goal of survival mode, alternatively, is to defeat as many opponents in a row as you can without falling to your death. The game will store your own “survival record”, so it’s always fun to go back and try to beat your personal score. Lastly, Death Match mode allows you to create your own battle. You select your character, as well as the amount of AI opponents and their skill (which range from noob to L33t). Death Match mode also allows you to select your battle setting and consequently, the associated special weapon that will be involved. For example, the Swamp is the home to Slimy (the boss that would be encountered in Campaign mode), and his associated weapon is the poison dart. So, staging a battle at the swamp automatically makes poison darts the special weapons that will be involved.
The characters and the weapons of Chaos Faction are what make the game truly unique and fun to play. At the beginning, you only get three characters to choose from: Gowboy the cowboy, Gorilli the gorilla, and Mechalo the alien. You are able to customize specific features however (such as eyes, hands, body and feet). As you move through Campaign mode, more characters become unlocked and they are all goofy and original in their own way. All in all, Chaos Faction is a great fighting game if you’re looking for something a bit more humorous, and it would be a great match for any fan of Super Smash Bros. If you have a free moment, it may definitely be worth your time.
